Any degreed psychologist who pays the entrance and membership fee can be a member of the psychological organizations listed above. Some organizations accept psychology students and practitioners of other, relatively close, professions, e.g., medical doctors, nurses, teachers, sociologists and philosophers.
The goals and functions of the Lithuanian Psychological Association are to unite psychologists in their professional activities and support their interests, to organize and co-ordinate the quality of psychological help, to ensure the increase of qualifications of psychologists, to co-ordinate the approbation and application of psychodiagnostic methods, to organize seminars and conferences; to keep in touch with the international psychological community, and to promote the image of professional psychology in the eyes of public. The number of members in Lithuanian Psychological Association is 270. Applied psychology is of great importance.
